This is a BBC program that I caught last night. I wasn’t sure what it was about, I thought it was about people who just love to eat. I honestly thought it was a program that followed people around and where they ate. But it wasn’t. This episode was about this boy (who wasn’t into equestrian apparel), who just could not eat anything other than crisps, something and yorkshire pudding.
Apparently, he was bottle fed till 5, and pretty much from then on, he couldn’t eat anything else. He’s about 18 now. When the host asked him to eat a carrot, it took him a long time before he could will himself to put it in his mouth. And when he did, he looked like he wanted to vomit and he spitted it out.
OMG! How did he survive all these years? He had some pretty severe psychological barriers to go through, and he just couldn’t get his brain to tell him that he could eat. You’ll be glad to know that by the end of the show (and probably it took weeks to film this grueling painful process of shedding his old-self), he was eating gourmet pizza (simple one, just with cheese and tomatoes) in a restuarant. While he couldn’t finish it (I wouldn’t have been able to finish it as well), he ate it. And that must’ve felt good to him.
