Interestingly enough, the parents that had a major effect on the teens, were the ones that did not raise their voice. Those who got aggressive and incorporated corporal punishments, failed miserably. While all teens did change, but some did not have a life changing view on how the world spins.
While the parents, that patiently handled the troubled teens, were clear winners. Resistance was high with those teens. There was even times where they disobeyed all rules. But, even though the host parents found out, they were given punishments, but it was very respectful and taught the teens why they were punished in the first place. It taught them responsibilities, it taught them accountability.
I truly admire those parents, and often wish I can have such patience, wisdom and grace. However, I think I need alot of work, within to attain such attributes.
