Le Grand Holiday..

by mott on June 5, 2009

Ok..no more excuses.

I was supposed to post up some pics on FB, but obviously got sidetracked. Ok, meant, lazy. Actually, not quite. See, FB has this function where you can directly upload pics from your iPhotos. But problem was it was pointing directly at an album which had like hundreds of photos, and I couldn’t pick n choose which pictures I wanted.

So, hopefully, I’ll be able to upload some here. I was also supposed to photoshop them..but I am just getting wayyyy too lazy. I will someday, photoshop some interesting pictures I took.

It was really a grand holiday. The freedom to walk anywhere in the humidity, without any kids to worry about, was priceless. The freedom to eat whatever I wanted, without thinking about the hygiene of the place was fantastic. I cannot describe how ‘free’ I felt.

I did think about the kids, on my journey there. It was a longgggg journey, with a transit. So..had lots of spare time, but the moment, I touched down…. all I wanted to do was be with Mr.T. And it felt really nice just having him to myself. Talking with him. Just lazing around with him. Walking to god-forsaken places with him. Not having to push a damn stroller. Taking a piss anywhere. Ok, anywhere secluded. ;)

While I did suffer from a bit of jet lag and insomnia… I had so much energy to burn during the day, I didn’t feel as tired. We played golf. We played pool. We swam. We lazed. We walked everywhere. We ate all the local delights and paid local price! We even danced! Together! Y’see, for a long time, Mr.T isn’t a very good dancer. He somehow doesn’t feel the rhythm in his body. He knows his music very well, but he just doesn’t have that rhythm. He surprised me by taking salsa lessons..and he was the one teaching me how to salsa!

It was a truly spectacularly wonderful holiday. I just want more of it. ;)

Here are some pictures…

I could not help but take a photo of this. I missed FarmTown soo much, and seeing this, made me miss it even more! Hello, my name is Su, and I am a FarmTown addict.

One view from the hotel we stayed in. It was supposedly one of the best hotels..but I personally found The Datai at Langkawi wayyyy better. Maybe it’s also because, one had to walk 1km to the private beach.

The view from our breakfast table. Oooohh..to be served! Oooooh…to have someone cook scrambled eggs for you! Ooohhh..to have food just waiting for you!!! Divine!

The staff harvests frangipanies and string them to make a lei to welcome new guests to the hotel. But, to this addict, all I could think was, “She’s harvesting flowers….. I want to harvest something..”

Not sure why this esteemed hotel had a bunch of stoned monkeys showing off their assets. Think the owner has a wicked sense of humor. Smells fishy, doesn’t it? ;)

The famed Babi Guling at Ibu Oka. I can only say that it is very very very good. If you wash it down with their local drink “Es Jeruk” ~ even better. “Es Jeruk” is just a sourish limey/orangey drink, but it is mighty re-fresh-ing!

The main reason why we were there in the first place. First wedding event that I truly enjoyed myself. Truly. Truly. Truly. The bride made tremendous effort in organising this fabulous day.

And..of course, we together with another couple, walked for miles to find this place. Each person we asked, kept telling us it was 500 meters away. Freakin’ hell… I finally pleaded with them to take our hired cab to it…coz it was already starting to rain! All because of….

..this. Purported to be the best martinis outside New York. Problem is, I have no freakin’ clue what New York martinis taste like. So..this pretty much tasted like petrol to me. And…I finished it up, like a very good girl. Neat. With lotsa wedges and pork ribs. The pork ribs are realllllllly good.

Ok..that’s some of the fun I had. I can’t be divulging every lil detail of my holiday, right? *winks*

Ta ta!
