Sins of a son

by mott on March 27, 2009

Recently, I watched an Australian dramatization of the Gonzales Murder. I know, I know, how the heck do I get the time to read books, do my daily chores and online work, and watch tv? I don’t know..somehow I just somehow always make time for some TV lovin.

If not for my daily routine, I would just be a couch potato.

Anyway, it was how Sef Gonzales deceived the NSW police into believing that the murders was performed by intruders. The Gonzales family migrated to Australia when Sef was just a little boy. The father, who already was wealthy in the Phillipines through real estate investments, became of those immigration lawyers, and was also quite successful at it. With the accumulation of wealth, the parents got pretty strict with the son, expecting him to excel in Uni. Unfortunately, the only thing he was really good at was, lying.

So, being enraged at his parents for cutting off his priviledges, he decided to kill them.

As I watched this show, I was horrified at the actual thought of a boy who would actually kill the persons who gave life to him! What would be going through his mind? I mean, this is your mother, your father. 2 people who brought you to life!

It scares me, how a parenting style can go all wrong. It scares me that I might also have a child who would grow up to be hateful and resentful of all the choices I made for him.

Being a parent… is very heavy duty.
