An Answer to my Guilt Trip!

I can’t believe it. A few days ago, I wrote this post, Guilt Trip because I was feeling overwhelmed by feelings of selfish-ness. Yes…I just wanted more me-time. Then felt immediately guilty after that. Today, I received the usual Huggies.com.au email newsletter and..it had an article all about mother guilt !

I will highlight here an excerpt of that article on managing motherguilt :

Managing Motherguilt

Mother guilt is not something to conquer or eliminate, but there are many things that we can do to manage these challenging feelings when they arise. Here are some suggestions from Julie Ann Barnhill:

  • Admit you can’t do it all – no one can!
  • When you find yourself thinking ‘I should…’, ask yourself, ‘Who says I should?’
  • Give yourself permission to laugh at yourself!
  • When you are feeling overwhelmed by guilt feelings, take a deep breath and try to put things in perspective.
  • Forgive yourself – let go of resentment you may hold for failing to achieve what you believe you should have as a mother.
  • Compliment another mother – look for opportunities to ease someone elses’ guilt!

I like the last part where it says to compliment another mom … easing another mom’s guilt. That’s where mommy bloggers go around, saying their, “There! There!” ’s…even though they are having a million things to worry about.

So..thank you to all you mommy bloggers that have been visiting me..and giving me your “There! There” ’s. I truly appreciate it.
