BookWorm Tag from KittyCat!!!!!!! Thanks so much! Great fun!!!

IMG_0593

Do you remember how you developed a love for reading?
I was quite a blur child……………till I stumbled into the store room, about 8/9. My dear aunt kept all her favourite books for me. My mom left it there…..for so many years, collecting dust.

What are some books you read as a child?
She left me the entire series of Enid Blyton books, from Famous Five to St.Clare’s, Mallory Towers to Secret Sevens….gosh, it was a treasure trove!!!! From thereon, I couldn’t stop. It was on-on-on full speed. My favourite-est series was “The Naughtiest Girl”.

What is your favourite genre?
I read everything, except poetry. I’m not too good with subliminal stuff. Let’s see : murder mysteries, horrors, serial-killers, sci-fi, humor, fantasy, travel biographies, autobiographies, chicklits, DIY, ….AI! Just about everything!

Do you have a favourite novel?
I think favourite novelist would be better. I love Gabriel Garcia Marquez! I can re-read all his books over and over and over again.

Where do you usually read?
Anywhere there are no kids. Heh…

When do you usually read?
Anytime when there are no kids. Heh….

Do you usually have more than one book you are reading at a time?
Ah…I normally do. I just finished “Chasing Harry Winston” by Lauren Weisberger (thumbs down) and “Down Under” by my another favourite n very funny guy by Bill Bryson (big thumbs up!).

Do you read nonfiction in a different way or place than you read fiction?
Ah..no

Do you buy most of the books you read, or borrow them, or check them out of the library?
Errrmm….I used to buy, now I mainly borrow. Very very poor….(and environmentally friendly, heh)!

Do you keep most of the books you buy?
Here’s my thing. If I find the book absolutely wonderful, I’d give it away. YES! I’d give it away to the very next person who tells me he/she wants to read it. I love to do it, it becomes a joy when reading is shared!

If you have children, what are some of the favorite books you have shared with them? Were they some of the same ones you read as a child?
I think Peter n Jane aren’t counted right? Not exactly favourite books, eh? So staccato like. Here’s Peter. Here’s Jane. Hello Peter. Hello Jane.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH! I love LOVE LOVE Eric Carle. His simple words (sometimes none) and beautiful drawings, inspired so many things for my kids. Our absolutely favourite right now is “The Very Hungry Caterpiller”. Another used-to-be favourite is “Good Night Moon” by Margaret Wise Brown. Of course, Richard Scarry is top-notch when it comes to cars, trucks and everything that moves. His level of detail is phenomenal. Both the kids constantly find new things and ask me what they are!!!!!

Do you keep a TBR (to be read) list?
Funnily enough..no. I have plenty of TBR books lying around…..somehow, I’ll pull in some books with me, wherever I go!

What’s next?
“Look me in the eye – My life with Aspergers” by John Elder Robinson

What books would you like to reread?
“Life and times of the Thunderbolt Kid” – Bill Bryson, “A Heartbreaking Work of A Staggering Genius (and it’s upside-down story as well)” – Dave Eggers and of course, “One Hundred Years of Solitude” – GGM.

Who are your favourite authors?
GGM (as above), Bill Bryson, Roald Dahl, Frank McCourt, William Golding, Somerset Maugham, oh..too many to mention.

I am hoping that Blinka.Li and Clair would do this tag. Pwetty please??!!!

Cool pix! Wow…you’re really mad about Marquez, aren’t you? Ok, I wanna read “100 Years in Solitude”…

Yup, I love Eric Carle, Richard Scarry and Margaret Wise Brown too though I got to wait till Dec before Lucas gets a chance at “Goodnight Moon”.

You like serial killers too? But I don’t get sci-fi…I’m the best fan of “Star Wars” the movies though. I’ve got “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy” but that’s really at the pit bottom of my pile LOL

Ahh…the good ole Enid Blytons! I was once “The Naughtiest Girl in the School” hahaha. And yup, love the school series. Almost all of them are tattered from rereadings.

Thanks for doing the tag :-) Feels good to find another reader!!!

Yikes, so sorry, mott, I’ve been meaning to do this but I’m such a scatterbrain I forgot all about it. I’ll get to it soon as I can.
