My mighty runners
I had a problem, when I saw no.2’s thumb like this. It was all red and sore from all his thumb-sucking-comforting-when-he-goes-to-sleep-action. I repeatedly asked him, “Is it painful?”. He (increasingly annoyed) answers, “NO!”.
Hmph!
Well, my problem was resolved today. Everyday, as we walk…well, I walk, the two of them run like hell to school. See, I park my car about 3 mins (walk) away from school, because I don’t like getting on the main road. Too many cars in the morning. So, we take a walk, …ok, run to school. My little mighty runner was running so hard, trying to catch up with his koko, when THUMP! he fell.
I was quite a distance, but I saw it happen. As usual..I just walked. I knew that he probably cut his lip..but I wanted to see what his big brother would. Hoping and praying that his brother would have some level of compassion in him, would pick up him and say, “It’s ok, Titi, it’s ok!”. Big Brother ran away.
*smacks forehead*
I gestured to big brother, pick him up! Big brother looked stoned. As I picked up the lil mighty wailing runner, I took some tissues and asked big brother for some water. Big Brother took out his water bottle …and drank it himself.
*smacks forehead*
I said, “AIYOOOO!! Give it to your lil brother!!!!”
“OH!”, said big brother.
Anyway, it’s just a usual childhood scrape…nothing to worry about. Just that his luscious lips is abit broken right now. Because of this, he tells me he can’t put his thumb in the mouth because his lips pain.
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! What a nice thing to hear! I hope that at least this will give his poor lil raw thumb a good air rest!
As a sidenote: As with boys, I always have a tiny first-aid kit (in a tiny tupperware) with me : Plasters/band aid, small bottle of betadine, swabs, alcohol swabs, tissues. At home, the ice-pack is the most useful thing to have for most falls. I realised if I panic, my boys panic…..then all hell breaks loose. Which defeats the entire purpose of the words, “CALM DOWN!!!!!!!!”

But it is a good idea to have a small first aid kit in the bag. I better prepare that soon.

I remember my friend’s (much older friend la) son fell once, and I was going to pick him up, when I saw the mum wasn’t too bothered, although he wsa wailing…
I looked at her for cue as to what to do, and she said: “Aiya, it’s his ego that’s hurt la. He’s so big (fat kid), where can get hurt from a simple fall wan?”

whoa! u manage to see the bright side of it, good on you. i hope mr.T won’t sound anything. my hubby will give me a kind of look as if it was my fault.
anyway, you no slackr mom leh. got first aid kit ready!! me? you know where i work right? i have only savlon and shrek bandaids. that’s it!!
that’s so true, if we freak out, they will cry louder. jon always freak out whenever belle falls and if i’m the one jaga-ing her..my gawd! that man can nag and nag and nag. when that happens, i just give him the hand..hahahaha…

but yeah if we panic, they lagi cry. So for me, I laugh at him and he wil laugh also.. with blood flowing down :S

I had to laugh at the Kor-kor’s reaction. Because that is what is happening over in my household too.
Yikes the sore looks rather bad. He may find it painful to drink water too..no?
