Raise the red flag…vote a red dress!

Posted on January 28, 2008

This subject is actually quite close to my heart, literally. I am genetically at risk of being a heart disease patient. My dear father suffered from heart disease at a very young age due to high cholesterol levels and being a borderline diabetic. Hence, I’ve known for a long time that I could potentially just get a heart attack or stroke.

What have I been doing about it? I started a regime that made me eat healthier and work out in activities that I loved, like running and playing squash/tennis.

Unfortunately, a tiny red flag has been rising higher and higher in my mind. Ever since, I have had kids, I have been living a rather sedentary life. I mean, sure, my kids do keep me on my toes, but the level of activity has decreased drastically. So, I have been a little worried about my lil heart.

I know for sure I want to be around for my kids to have their kids. So, this year, once my No.3 is out, I’ll definitely be taking my kids out just to run around, or bike around. I know those simple activities will help me gain back my stamina and give me ol’ heart a good workout!

Campbell is currently going on a massive campaign, creating awarenesss in spreading the word about heart disease in women. You can do many things to help spread the word, in a really fun way. I’ve voted for a dress that Lisa Perry designed and Toni Braxton is to wear, the highest voted dress in the site.

Not only that, they pledged to donate USD1 for every vote towards a dress, in their “Go Red For Women” campaign. You can vote once everyday! I really want that cute short babydoll dress to win…so, please go and vote! Simply and easy stuff!

Whatever it is, I urge all women, reading this, to start thinking of yourself first. Your heart. You’ve only got one and take good care of it. You’ll get to enjoy the benefits for a very very very VERY long time.
