Date Night

Posted on December 15, 2007

Truth be told, date night for any parent is quite important. Helps a couple re-establish some resemblance of romance into your relationship. Every new parent I meet, I’ll tell them to have some ‘us’ time… just because I know of it’s significance.

But guess what? I guess I’m a big hypocrite, while I harp on the theoretical benefits of it, I really rarely do it. Why? Simply because I don’t have a babysitter. I have no maid. We lived by ourselves, without the extended family.  So, it wasn’t as easy as it was for me to have date nights with Mr.T.

Sure, I could have gotten my folks or his folks to babysit. But, since they’re not-as-young, I don’t really like the idea of coming back too late, as they themselves have to go to their own homes. So, I rarely like them to babysit, unless we have absolutely no choice.

So, yesterday, for a very very long time, Mr.T and I went out on our first real date. My SIL is staying with us, which means, an instant babysitter! Since the kids sleep so early, there’s not much to babysit, only to rescue them if there’s a fire….ha ha.

We took a drive to the city.. and walked so much. The weather was nice n cool. Although we didn’t say much, we enjoyed each other’s company very much. Just the two of us.

When we got home, we still felt ‘romantic’ … HA HA HA! I’ll leave it up to your imagination. So, go on..try to have that long date night… it helps alot. You don’t have to talk at all… just be together. Just remember…NO KIDS PLEASE!
