As you all know….my threats to ‘chop’ off my lil guy’s fingers, as he kept sucking them. It was only because I had noticed that his two front teeth were protruding out more than usual. It was a lil shocking, because I really didn’t want him to have buck-teeth.
Of course, I knew that these were all milk-teeth and that it would be replaced by the permanent set later. But nevertheless, I thought the foundation (?) of his protruding tooth could lead to a more permanent protrusion later!
Well…just now, I noticed one tooth was sticking out more than usual! I was more distressed because I had not caught him sucking his fingers ever since that ‘chopping’ episode…and wondered what it was?
My lil boy..only 5 years old…. is going to lose his first milk tooth! All grown up..suddenly.
Sigh…with happiness in my heart, but tears in my eyes, I told him, he was about to lose his first tooth and that a new bigger and stronger one would take its’ place.
He panicked. He shouted, “NO NO NO..I won’t suck my fingers anymore!”
Poor lil man. It’s obvious, my treatment really traumatised him! But, I told him, it wasn’t the sucking that did it…it was because he was growing growing GROWING into a big boy already!
Y’see, all this while, we’ve been talking about growing up and how his baby clothes don’t fit in anymore..and that he will become a big bigger brother again.
After awhile, he made sure that we would see a dentist about removing this tooth and getting that new one. But, I’m pretty sure he’ll be singing, “All I want for Christmas is my one/two front teeth..”…
Shucks…awwww…… I feel like a mom now. Hee hee hee..

Aye.. Both my kids also lost their teeth around 5 years of age. I remember when I was younger, we lose our teeth at about 7. How come these days kids lose teeth so soon ar??
