I have a sucker!
*Biggest groans you’ll ever hear in my neighbourhood*
My first kid from the time he found his fingers, has been sucking them for comfort. He sucks on his middle and ring fingers. Has to be two, not the thumb. I have seen other kids (altho rare) doing it.
Then, a couple of nights ago, I saw House. *head droops down*
The patient, an autistic kid kept rolling his eyes backwards. House figured out that it was worms. The kid likes to play in his sandbox. And he likes to eat sandbox-y stuff. With worms. The worms travelled to his eyes and ate through the ligaments (?) that held the eyeballs.
*SOBS*
How now? While I love the fact that my son has an attached comfort item, I am always worried that his fingers are not worm-free. In fact, I have told him that he should only suck them, when he is very tired and in his room. But, I’ve seen him suck when he’s tired in the car (after a major playing session) or when he’s watching telly.
Stupid House has now made me think and think and think and think of the possible worms and germs that are invading his tiny lil body!

I remember small time got cacing,
then my mom gave us eat medicine to de-worm us. I mean we were running around bare footed like hooligans all over the kampung sure got worm masuk wan, ewwww geli oni thinking about it now.

I did WATCH that particular episode. Very scary right? Get your son to wash wash wash lor..And feed him deworming tablets once every 6 months.

Aiks..my older boy also sucks two fingers and worse sometimes all four fingers except the thumb. I noticed this habit only in the past 6 months.
SERIOUS???!!! Wah..all four ah! Must be very stressed lor!!! or plain tired! School must be tiring him out! I know JR’s one is!

I would say the episode ‘Lines in the Sand’ of House was one of the most touching ones…The little boy (I believe his name is Braedon LeMaster) played it to perfection!

I heard that if children revert back to finger sucking after not sucking for a long time, it usually means the child is disturbed by something, and it is a tell-tale sign that something is bothering the child…That’s why they revert to old behaviour that is ‘comforting’, but whihc is too ‘immature’…
strangely, he doesn’t have blisters, but I do believe his two front teeth juts out a lil more prominently. Oh well….

you’d be more worried to know there are ppl who actually take tablets containing tapeworms to loose weight. so drastic and risky!
