Technicalities..

Posted on August 28, 2007

When it comes to OB-GYN-eatrics…or whatever you call it, medically…. calculating your due date is not so easy, when you’ve gone for a ultrasound.

The last time I went, I was 6 weeks 5 days. From my own “sendiri-buat” calculation, I was only at 6 weeks. This round I went, I am 12 weeks. So, technically, I’m supposed to be off morning sickness…and off heartburn and all those nasty things we pukey mothers don’t want to ever remember..

Like how my mother is when I’m puking my guts out..” I really don’t remember my pregnancies being that bad”…and of course, ” I don’t remember whether you guys were ever such cry-babies”…

Marvellous contraptions these ultrasound machines.. you can see their lil toe-sies, their lil arms …giving you the finger whenever you twitch, and now…with ease, 3D and in colour too!! Don’t pway-pway!

But..according to my “sendiri-buat” calculation, I have exactly 1 week and 5 more days to go…from leaping into the arms of 2nd trimester-hood and gorging myself silly with char kway teows, mee jawa and heaps and heaps of nasty spicy sambal. drooollssssss.…..

So….no matter how technologically advanced these ultrasound machines, they don’t really give any ounce of relief (except for the fact, the lil one is super healthy..PHEW!)…. for, I know in my heart..I truly have to suffer another 2 more weeks of food deprivation and stomach bile. ARRRGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

To this lil one…. ENJOY ENJOY ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Lord knows how you’re growing so big so fast, when your mother is not even eating well enough to keep her food in!!!!!!

I can imagine you drooling come 2nd trimester…afterall you’ve been deprived of food for the whole of the 1st trimester…poor girl! Well good to hear that the little one is growing well despite your volatile first trimester.

Sorry to say arr… sometimes the morning sickness go on into the 2nd trimester lah. Mine was till about 16 weeks. Then okay. At about 8 months, again cannot eat banyak. Eat a little banyak will vomit also leh..

Anyway, look on the bright side..nauseous feeling is a kind of precaution by your BODY to keep harmful toxins OUT so that baby will be A-ok. You did say baby is SUPER healthy.

Wa…now technologically advanced huh? 3D and in colour. My time don’t have leh… So, boy or girl? Or don’t want to know? 3D, you also can tell right? No need to wait for doc to tell you…

Even with the most advance system, you can’t predict too when the baby will decide to come! Oh well, unless you cut open yourself to take baby out, or you induce yourself.
