For I Am The Chocolate Giver!
And this is how I ended my argument with my soon-to-be 5 year old.
I know..it’s completely unfair. But it’s the end of the day, the two monkeys were getting cranky, screaming for toys they each wanted.
So, as No.2 screamed for a plastic thingy that No.1 was holding on to, I gave them a chance, I growled, “If nobody wants to take turns playing this…I. WILL. TAKE. IT. AWAY! And nobody will get to play with it!”.
Obviously, nobody listened. This “nobody” is a real busy person eh…
So, screaming ensued, when I took this prized possession and threw it far far FAR away. With this, No.1 shouted, “I will share with Titi!”.
I said, “MAMA IS ANGRY! NOBODY WANTED TO SHARE! And now, there is nothing to share!”
He then shouted back, “I AM ANGRY WITH MAMA!!!!”
I then (very dramatically) boomed, “FOR I AM THE CHOCOLATE GIVER! YOU CANNOT BE ANGRY WITH ME!”
Then, he remembered and meekly said, “Ow Owriteeee!”.
On the way home earlier, I gave him a Kraft’s Oreo Waferstick to snack on…. HAH!

It’s super yummy, but too skinny. And expensive. But still, yum in the tum!
Don’t you just hate that when your parents pull that kinda “I’m the boss of you” crap like that on you? My kids are gonna curse me for the rest of my life!

Sorry to say I do that tooo! I know it is really unfair to the kids, but sometimes it is the only way to stop the shouting, squabbling and fighting. I dont know of other ways that ends it quicker, and a lot depends on the mood I am in.
why are YOU sorry??? Don’t be! Stay firm to your ground. They all need boundaries. Life is not fair, from Day1. Might as well understand it and find a better way to handle life eh??!!!!
