Guy Magnet

by mott on June 12, 2007

That’s me.

It’s hard to believe. But I am. And I’m not ashamed to admit it.

And this is when I’m not dressed to impress! Imagine… Me? What is it about me that keeps guys magnetized to me?

Guys? Yea.. I really mean it. Guys ages from 1 (from walking) up to 10.

Lil guys.

Girls…I don’t have much luck. But GUYS…you betcha!

It all started when I was heavily pregnant with No.1. In parties, lil guys would run up to me, screaming, “Mummy! Mummy!” and clutching on to my leg, like a dog would do to a err.. man’s leg. Then, somehow their real (unpregnant) mummies would embarrasingly pry them off my leg.

Then, here and there..whereever I went, lil tots would still run up to me, begging for me to pick them up and hug them. And…their hovering fathers would smile bashfully at me, and weakly say, “Sorry…..they think you’re their mum.”

Last Sunday, I was at Kinokuniya, in the kids’ section, looking for cheapass books, when I got accosted by this 9-10year old kid, who insisted on reading me some jokes. While I still looked for the books, I would politely laugh or smile when the punchline came. Of course, there would be the appropriate giggle or two..to show that I was REALLY listening. And then, there was the asking of a question or two, to show that I was REALLY interested. Then, it was time for me to go. I really wanted to go.

But, how do I go? How do I gently tell this kid that his captive audience HAS to go? When I finally mustered up the courage to tell him, he looks at me, shrugs and says, “OH…OWRIGHT!”. Then, he plonks himself down on the floor and continues reading the joke book outloud.

Okayyyyyyyyyyy….. So, what is with me and lil guys? I’m not YO MOTHER! I got enough monkey action from my two already!

Chinese people believe that if boys like to stick with pregnant lady, then the bb inside the mummy most probably will be a girl. Am I right?
