Don’t be a fool..
Firstly………. IT’S NOT MY BIRTHDAY!!!!!! Don’t speed read my post and then s-l-o-w-l-y read the comments la……..
I highlighted it BIG BIG in PINKY PINK….how come nobody read leh?
Secondly…I’m not calling you or you or YOU.. a fool. I’m just going to do my usual pat-por community service and inform you of the hidden evils in nice-looking/heart-warming ads.
The first time I came across this ad, “Tell someone”..I was really touched inside. It was like this sisterhood that shared and cared. Wow. Then recently, I’ve been seeing local celebrities like Kavitha Sidhu, one of the Nerina sisters (forgot which one)…blablabla. They looked like they cared..they looked like they REALLY want to prevent you from getting cervical cancer. They want YOU to be vaccinated from it.
Here’s the dirt tho… this vaccination has one supplier. Some big time pharmaceutical company that I will NOT mentioned…why give more free publicity? If you wanna find out more…go google it yourself. Did I mention the cost? Nah..I won’t..it’s just too ridiculous. If I really want to be vaccinated… I will WAIT for the generic vaccination to come out..by then, the COST will be SIGNIFICANTLLY lowered.
Need I say more? These huge pharmaceutical companies are just scums. They don’t really care about this “tell somebody” ad…they just want to strike fear in your heart, and take that money out of your pocket.
The other vaccination I’m really pissed about is that Meningococcal one. If your kid is below 2, you need to vaccinate like …twice (I think). It costs RM300 each. After 2, you need to vaccinate once..again, RM300. Why? Only one freaking supplier/manufacturer. Bloody fark! I want to own a huge piece of this pharmaceutical co……!!!!! Then I won’t have to do any more PPP!!!!!!
This is a huge OUCH! for any parents wallet. I asked the nurse if it’s REALLY necessary to get this vaccination..and all she said was, “It’s like playing lottery…you might get it, you might not!”. Y’know……any disease in a child, really strikes terror in your heart. You don’t want your child to get sick..you want to avoid it at all cost. But..at RM300 per jab (which also causes kid to scream blue murder)…….I really wanted to think about it.
Guess what? According to CDC, an infant less than 1 year old has less chances of getting this disease than a college freshman living in a dormitary. But..yet..anyone is susceptible to it and while it may be able to treated by Penicillin, it may be a life-long disease.
But my gripe is not the vaccinations per se. It’s the fact that these pharmaceutical companies want to strike fear into our hearts..so we pay without thinking twice. Why can’t they be more compassionate and open up to other manufacturers..so that the cost can be lowered and hence, more affordable?
So..please don’t let fear strike your heart, if you hear of someone someone saying that you MUST get this vaccination or you or your child will catch this disease. Take your time to do the research and understand the disease and vaccination. It’s sooo easy to be overwhelmed with such “caring” ads.

aiyoo… why la so secretive? ok ok … i know u dowan to give ’some pharmaceutical’ companies links :P…
ahh… a lot of mothers will be interested in this i am sure…
huh? me secretive? bbbbut..it’s in the newspapers la..
We actually went for the seminar when the ‘company’ launched the products… and guess what the doctor said??? There are so many viruses and the jabs are only for some of it! So, not neccessary to get one lor! (according to my PB lar!)
errm.. true true…the one that baffles me is the flu shot… I know there are 500+strains of flu virus…how come there is only one flu shot for kids? might as well not get them vaccinated anyway?
My kids did the vacinnation after they turned two so I saved on one dose of it. Its close to S$200 a dose here in Spore. yes, its a big rip-off. But no choice, la.
aiyo..is it not covered by govt?? ha ha ha
Fear is a big business. Yes I hv this thing too on the pharmaceutical companies.
Now..this is giving me more ideas..on “fear”
Eh, that one hor, seks rambang will increase the chances so they are encouraging our girls (not that I have any hehehe, so can talk kok lor)to screw around without condoms because they have been vaccinated, right?
haizzz..that’s what I’m talking about..instead of educating young ppl on sex, they “promote” sex by getting such girls vaccinated! Like from the pot to the fire..apala this gamen!
I agree with u on the pneumococcal jab. Ads everywhere apparently published the paediatric association so i wonder the association is getting something out of every jab.
of course they are… they get a nice cut out of it!!!
Hey…I so agree with you about the jabs. These people are only interested in $$$. Some docs came out and talked about this in the newspaper and kept saying it’s better to get the jab….blah blah blah.
All blatant advertising! Bah!
Yeah, we’ve paid about RM 300 twice for the pneumococcal jabs. His last jab would be end of this month or early next month. But thank god BMW covers the expense. Otherwise, aiyoooo….
well..whatcha waiting for?? Go make more babies now, while BMW still covers it . Otherwise, aiyoooo……
My son’s PD also said that it is not necessary to get pneumococal. But i decided to get it coz vaccinations are claimable under my company’s dependent benefit. So my dad says my poor bb gotto suffer bcoz of the extra $
if claimable…get it la. better to suffer the pain of jabs..then the actual pain of the disease!
My son had all his jabs in govenment clinic FOC, and I didn’t bring him for any other optional jab, like this pneumococal, though I can claim from my company but the paed said it’s not necessary to take.
haah..like the nurse told me.. luck of the draw!
