the state of this nation

by mott on May 22, 2007

is depressing me.

“Big Pay Rise”, screams this English newspaper.

I’m not being sour grapes, sour puss, sour milk or sour stewed pig trotters. I’m just depressed. As it is, we are grappling with our daily expenses and here it is, the confirmation of an inflated nation. So what if our trade deficit has reduced by 1.8%. So what if our economic growth has increased. So what so what so what?

When u print money out to give out to your staff, it only means one thing to me. Inflation. My Ringgit has shrunk. Again.

Why bother…just start making banana money. Hey! I should start that in my island!

I’m surprisingly bugged by this news. I’m not normally like this. Y’know one of those old geezer uncles who sit around the dinnerparties, condemning so-and-so. I like to sit with those geezer uncles..coz they normally have tons to say. But..now..it just feels like I wanna join their conversation. I also want to condemn so-and-so and categorically wail about how our country is going down the drain, injecting lots of “back then when I was young…..bla bla bla”.

GAWD! Very soon, I’ll be turning into my geezer mother/father/uncle/aunty, who sit around dinner tables, while my teenage sons roll their eyes in boredom and wonder how much longer they’d have to sit there. Let’s see..we’ll discuss how our education system has gone down the drain. Then…it’ll be the lack of transparency. Thereafter, it’ll be how our toilets stink. Again.

I’m angry because it seems like a lot of Malaysians want to be a welfare society. They want their Government to take care of them till they die. It’s not going to happen. If our Parliament can “bocor” for soooo long, what makes you think our Government really CARES about you?

The whole “bocor” crap is really insulting to me as a private citizen (I’m a voter..are you?). I mean..c’mon man..you wasted Sharizat’s time in getting that apology. I mean..c’mon man..she could have been officiating some stupid opening in some remote island (like mine). *rolls eyes, rolls eyes, rolls eyes*. Not only that..the esteemed Samy could have inspected the place much earlier…..instead of letting smoke get in our eyes. SHEESH!

While writing this post up, I decided to check out Pazuzu. Thank god for his sense of humour and I hope he’s not related to Samy…. he/she/it/who knows? made me smile. And then I read this. I cannot stop crying. Why in the world can’t we have more selfless people?

Again….additional, useless information. Sorry guys… the usually funny mott’s on some type of funk la.

hmm, mebbe here (US) isn’t that bad after all…oh, i’m sure we can get killed by random shooters, but it sure is better than hearing crap day in day out from those babis. At least I can die with clean ears.

armmm….i think it’s just as bad. US is a welfare nation. Ppl are too dependent on the US go-men – medical benefits, pension, social security…etc..etc. In fact, they have no money to take care of their future generation. It’s really a time-tickin’ bomb. So SAVE YOUR MONEY VIEN!!!!!!!!! BUY MORE PROPERTIES!!!!…aiya….. sorry ah..sounding abit too over-zealous already…sigh…what’s becoming of me?????

but..but for civil servants like myself, the pay rise is a welcoming news. Sorry.

I do understand your irritations over many of the gomen’s antics…same here. Sometimes, can’t help biting the hand that feeds me (in my case lah).

haha..I understand..I have family members who are/were civil servants and are very happy with this. But..in the long run…. I don’t know….for our kids…it’s gonna be even tougher..
